SAS Application Efficiency Improvement

Sierra's expertise with the SAS System spans two decades of applying it data on many different platforms, storage devices and operating systems. We incorporate our detailed knowledge of SAS System processing to ensure that all our projects run in the most efficient manner possible while still delivering the results you need. Two of our recent efficiency improvement projects are:

• Review of the customer scoring applications for a major catalog mail order concern. This review identified multiple opportunities to streamline the scoring process, thus reducing mainframe computer resource requirements and time need to plan and implement catalog mailings and other promotional campaigns.
• As part of the spare parts forecasting project mentioned above, Sierra also improved both the machine and "human" efficiency required to generate the monthly forecast reports. We reduced the amount of CPU time required for the mainframe to pre-process and then transmit the forecast data inputs to the analyst's personal computer, where PC SAS was then used to run the forecasts. We also combined and eliminated a number of steps taken by the forecast analyst, thus reducing the amount of intervention required to complete the monthly forecasting process.
